He is best known for his role in the advancement of civil rights using nonviolent civil disobedience. Martin Luther King, Jr. was born on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Reverend Martin Luther, Sr. and Alberta Williams King. He was a middle child, between an older sister, Willie Christine King and a younger brother, Alfred Daniel Williams King. Martin Luther King was a pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. he moved a lot of people with his speech he gave. He made a difference which was having white amd black together than hating one an other. He married Jennie Celeste Parks and they had one child that survived, Alberta. Martin Luther King, Sr. fought against racial prejudice, not just because his race suffered, but because he considered racism and segregation to be an affront to God's will. April 4, 1968 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was shot while standing on the second floor balcony of his room at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee. The bullet traveled through the right side of his neck, smashing his throat and then going down his spinal cord before lodging in his shoulder. King was rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital, where doctors opened his chest and performed manual heart massage. He was pronounced dead. James Earl Ray was captured two months later. and was sentenced to 99 years in prison.
